Host authorities
The National Park Authority is the local planning authority inside the boundary. Chichester, East Hampshire and Winchester process applications as host authorities, which catches people who assume the district name on the letter is the decision-maker. Petersfield, Liss and East Meon sit in the Hampshire part of the park. Midhurst, Petworth and Storrington sit on the Sussex side, with Lewes, Alfriston and Ditchling further east. If the address is outside the boundary, the case goes to the district or unitary instead — Hampshire, West Sussex or East Sussex and Brighton.
